BEHIND

THE LENS

"...to take a photograph is to participate in another person's mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time's relentless melt." - Susan Sontag

Lexie is a fine-art wedding and portrait photographer serving clients locally in Louisiana and available for travel worldwide. She prides herself in not only capturing beautiful images, but also in the connection she forms with her clients to help make the wedding experience truly unforgettable.
Photography has become a huge part of who I am, but when I am not shooting, I am with my husband, Galen, our King Charles Spaniels, Luna and Knox, and adopted kitten, Willow. I'm an old soul, with a desire to travel, and an appreciation for books, antiques, and music. Flowers are my love language, and if I wasn't a photographer, I would most definitely explore the floristry world. Film photography is my other obsession, and something I incorporate in all of my work. I will never stop shooting film.
An important element in the way I create captivating imagery is by getting to know my clients on a personal level. Scroll to get to know me a little bit more.

married THE LOVE OF MY LIFE 3.19.22

behind the photographs.

I began as a hobbyist photographer in 2017, carrying my camera and kit lens around everywhere just to capture nature, flowers, and historical sites around my hometown in Louisiana. I always had a love for photography and old photos, but I had never felt like I was an artsy, creative individual. Every visit at family members homes, I would sit on the floor shuffling through different photo albums, fascinated by seeing their way of life and the art of film photography. I felt a closeness to my ancestors whom I've never met before, visualizing their lives through these old images.
I began dipping my toes in portrait photography by taking photos of my sister and other family and friends, and became hooked. I yearned to create and capture beauty with my lens. This is when I revealed a true passion for capturing human connection between two people and opened my eye to a creative side I had never known. It's a special thing being able to capture a person's unique beauty or a couple's genuine love in imagery. It makes me excited and passionate about creating art. I think having this true passion is something that stands out in this industry. It isn't just a job for me, it's a part of my life, and something I 100% pour my entire heart and soul into. It is fulfilling to me capturing people's love stories and monumental moments in life.

The PASSION

What is it about coming across old photos that tugs on our heartstrings so much, even when they depict a time when some of us weren't alive yet?

Who I am as a person is completely intertwined in my photography business and vice versa. My business is an artful  reflection of myself. My old soul and love for all things vintage and timeless has been an inspiration in my style of imagery. My love for film photography is an emphasis of my creative flow and what makes my work look the way it does because film is a magical, nostalgic thing. I'm an observer, and this characteristic allows me to see things unfolding naturally, like a fly on the wall with a camera in my hand. I prefer to stand back and watch moments organically happen, and then step in with direction as needed.
